AIM: To recognise the Gordon Setter which has the best wins in the show ring each year.

ELLIGIBILITY: Any Gordon Setter in Australia.

WINNERS: The top scoring Gordon Setter in Australia each year will be THE AUSTRALIAN GORDON SETTER SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR - The top scoring Gordon Setter from each state each year will be THE xxxxx GORDON SETTER SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR.

NOMINATIONS: Nominations must be made on the approved nomination form by 31 January of the following year. To apply for a nomination form, phone the Secretary (02 9449 6245) or click here to download the form. Nominations will include the dog's performance at the Gordon Setter Club of NSW and the Gordon Setter Club of Victoria's Championship Shows plus the dog's other best eight championship shows anywhere in Australia.

SCORING: Points will be awarded as follows:
  1. Challenge points as awarded within the breed
  2. Additional points as follows:
    1. Best In Group 10 points OR
    2. Runner Up To Best In Group 5 points OR
    3. Best In Show 20 points OR
    4. Runner Up To Best In Show 12 points
  3. Bonus points as follows:
    1. BIG 2 points for every 100 dogs entered in the group OR
    2. RUBIG 1 point for every 100 dogs entered in the group OR
    3. BIS 2 points for every 300 dogs entered in the show OR
    4. RUBIS 1 point for every 300 dogs entered in the show
  4. A dog does not win points for both an in-Group and an in-Show win at the same show.
  5. Minimum number of 70 points must be achieved.
ANNOUNCEMENT: The Show Dog of the Year will be announced and the presentation will be made at the Gordon Setter Club of NSW Championship Show. The full list of winners will be published in the Gordon Setter Club of NSW's newsletter.

PRIZE: For the winner of the Australian Gordon Setter Show Dog of the Year - Perpetual trophy and a personalised sash. The winner will be asked to submit photos of the winning dog to be displayed on the Club Website and in the Club newsletter with suitable captions.

Best & Opposite Description

Open to all Club members. To be awarded annually to the dog or bitch that wins the greatest number of points at its 10 best designated point score shows. Points awarded are:
  • 1st in class 3 points
  • 2nd - 2 points
  • 3rd 1 point
  • CC - 5 points
  • Res. CC - 2 points
  • BOB - 3 points
  • RUBOB -1 point
Thus at any one show a maximum of 11 points can be achieved for BOB.

Novice Exhibitor Description

Aims to encourage new exhibitors of the breed to compete in an environment where they are most likely to learn more about the breed and how to exhibit a Gordon. Winner will be the novice exhibitor of the dog with the greatest number of points on the Club's point score (see above).

Eligibility - owners who have not shown a Gordon to its title and have not bred a litter of Gordons. If a dog's status changes during the competition period, only those points accrued before it becomes eligible for the title of champion will be included. The owner will, however, be able to compete with other eligible dogs for the whole of the competition period.

Intermediate Exhibit Description

Open to all members of the Club for Gordon dogs and bitches between 18 months and 3 years exhibited in Intermediate Classes at the designated point score shows. Winner will be the exhibitor of Intermediate Class dog or bitch with the greatest number of points on the Club's point score (see above).

Description

The purpose of the Performance Pointscore Competition is to recognise and encourage Gordon Setters competing in events other than showing. The award is made to the Gordon Setter which achieves the greatest number of points from three separate events nominated by the owner within the award period.

Eligibility

To participate in the pointscore:
  1. Both the owner and the handler of the dog must be financial members of the club, although the dog does not have to be handled by its owner;
  2. events must be sanctioned by the RNSWCC or the ANKC,
  3. at least two of the three results must have been achieved at events held in NSW or the ACT,
  4. the results must be submitted in writing to the nominated club representative no later than 31st January for the previous year's pointscore; and,
  5. the owner may be required to provide copies of qualifying certificates and place cards if requested by the Committee.

Scoring

The pointscore is based on the dog's three best results during the calendar year. Eligible events include:
  1. obedience
  2. agility
  3. jumping
  4. gundog obedience
  5. tracking
  6. endurance
  7. setter and pointer field trials
Points are awarded as follows:
  • 4 points for a Qualifying result
  • 3 points for a 1st place
  • 2 points for a 2nd place
  • 1 point for a 3rd place
Points are cumulative

Bonus Points:
  1. 1 bonus point will be awarded for each result from a different discipline. (Agility and jumping are considered to be in the same discipline.)
  2. 2 bonus points will be awarded for a qualifying result in a Setter and Pointer field trial.
  3. Qualifying points are doubled for a dog that is competing in a class for which it is not yet eligible for a title, ie a Novice dog, a CD dog competing in Open or a dog competing in an endurance test.
Nominations are to be submitted in writing to Meg MacCormick by the owner of the dog no later than the end of January of the following year. Copies of the qualifying certificates and the name of the handler must be included.

Description

Purpose was to recognize and encourage trialing in obedience of Gordon Setters in NSW and ACT. The award was made to the Gordon Setter that achieved the highest qualifying scores at 3 trials in the award period.

Eligibility:
  1. The dog must be owned and trialed by a Club member (although the dog does not have to be trialed by its owner).
  2. At least 2 of the 3 nominated qualifying scores must be gained at trials in NSW or ACT.
  3. If the 3 nominated scores were obtained in Novice, only one has to be obtained during the award period (calendar year).
  4. In all other cases, the nominated scores must be obtained at trials held during the award period (the calendar year).
The results to be submitted in writing to Meg MacCormick by the owner of the dog no later than the end of January of the following year. Copies of the qualifying certificates and the name of the handler must be included.
